Berkshire Christian School adheres to a dress code which is comfortable, casual and easy to manage. Parents are informed of all dress code requirements prior to the beginning of the school year. See the Student Handbook for more information.
2. What is the school’s policy regarding the teacher/student ratio?
Berkshire Christian School is committed to a maximum of 19 students for each grade section.
3. What is the homework policy?
Homework is limited during the grammar school years primarily to a brief math excercise, phonics, and scheduled reading. Additionally, homework time may be spent completing unfinished classroom assignments, memorizing passages or facts, and preparing for tests or projects. On average, a student can expect approximately 15 minutes of work per grade (starting with first grade) per weeknight (first grade should have 15 minutes, second grade should have 30 minutes, and so on), to a maximum of approximately 180 minutes in middle school.
4. Will the school need funds over and above tuition?
Yes. Fundraising projects are an ongoing activity of the school. Fundraising efforts help balance our operating budget, and provide for various short-term and long-term capital needs. All gifts to Berkshire Christian School are tax-deductible.
5. When will the school begin and end each day?
School begins at 8:25 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.
6. What is the discipline policy at Berkshire Christian School?
The type and amount of discipline is determined by the teachers and, if necessary, the principal. All discipline is based on the Biblical principles of restitution, apology, and restoration of fellowship. Most discipline is dealt with at the classroom level. Love and forgiveness is the foundation for all disciplinary decisions and actions.
7. Describe the school calendar for the year.
The school meets approximately 175 days per school year. Holidays closely mirror the public school calendar.
